The Roads and Transport Authority has completed traffic improvement works on Beirut Street, by implementing an additional lane on this street with a length of 3 km, from the intersection of Beirut Street with Al Nahda Street until its intersection with Amman Street towards the north. The Authority is working in full swing to strengthen the road network and raise the level of safety in Dubai’s streets, by implementing developmental traffic solutions on a regular basis, to keep pace with the urban renaissance, sustainable urban development, and the population boom, to confirm its commitment to enhancing Dubai’s position to be at the forefront of global cities in terms of luxury and quality of life.
The authority also implemented a traffic improvement on Beirut Street by adding storage lanes at the intersection of Baghdad Street and Beirut Street to accommodate additional traffic volumes, facilitate movement at the traffic lights, and reduce the arrival time along Beirut Street in the direction of the airport tunnel, and from Beirut Street to Baghdad Street and from there to Baghdad Street. The Beirut Street improvements serve residents and visitors of the surrounding areas in both directions, the most prominent of which are: Al Muhaisnah area, Al Qusais and Al Twar, and Al Qusais Industrial area.
The recent expansion of Beirut Street is considered an important development work, as it directly contributes to increasing vehicle capacity, raising the total capacity of the street from 4,500 vehicles to 6,000 vehicles per hour towards the north, which improves the flow of movement and reduces delay rates in travel time from Al Nahda Street to Amman Street along Beirut Street towards the north during the evening rush hour by more than 30%, thus reducing the journey time from 18 minutes to 12 minutes.
The Authority confirms that the current expansion is part of a package of rapid traffic improvements and development works that it is implementing during the year 2024, and includes more than 72 sites at the level of the Emirate of Dubai. The Authority bases the improvement work on 4 main data that are analyzed immediately, which are: traffic studies. , control centres, public suggestions, observations and field monitoring of roads, by the Authority’s specialized work teams.
