The families of the students informed “Emirates Today” that the Ministry of Education removed the students’ grades from the “Student Grading System” (Al-Manhal), about four days after announcing the results of the end of the 2019/2020 academic year, and returned them after deleting the subjects of creative design, innovation, and physical education. health, and behavior, which caused their children’s rates to decline.

They called on ministry officials to explain the reasons for deleting grades for the three subjects.

In its response to “Emirates Today,” the ministry merely said: “There are smart summer classes to improve their results.”

In detail, Johnny Imad (parent of a female student) said: “The Ministry of Education provided the student grading system (Al-Manhal) with the final grades for 12th grade students in all subjects, including the subjects (Creative Design and Innovation – Physical and Health Education – Behavior), but the print feature The certificate was not available to students to obtain the final certificate to attach to their papers required to apply to universities.”

He added: “According to the first grades uploaded by the Ministry to (Al-Manhal), the final average for students in grade 12 is calculated according to the sum of grades for 10 subjects. However, the Ministry withdrew three of them, and contented itself with placing a sign (-) and a letter D indicating that the student’s average in the subject ranges from Between two grades determined according to each letter (A, B, C, D, and F), which means that students are unable to know their final grades in these subjects.” He pointed out that the ministry’s action caused a decrease in his daughter’s overall average from 96.772%, which is the sum of the grades of 10 subjects, to 94.61%, based on the sums of seven subjects. Mansour Al-Mahi (guardian of a female student) said: “The change in the grading system made by the Ministry greatly affected my daughter’s average, as her success rate decreased from 93% to 90%. Upon reviewing the school, it informed us that the Ministry had changed its grades by letters, adding that “the Ministry had not previously clarified that the grades of these three subjects were not counted in the student’s total.” He wondered why grades were published, then withdrawn from the “student grades system,” noting that the change delayed obtaining certificates for submission to universities. “Groups” circulated on social media a video of students’ families who gathered in the Ministry’s “Customer Happiness” building to file complaints against the procedure, demanding answers to their inquiries about the changes that occurred in their children’s grades.

Ministry: Smart summer classes are an opportunity to improve results.
