Emirates Airlines announced yesterday that it has doubled the number of cities it offers access to outside its global network, reaching 1,700 cities by the end of last year.
In a statement, it said that this contributed to enabling more than 61,000 passengers per week to continue their flights, through connecting flights across the joint networks of the carrier and its partners.
It indicated that it offers additional travel options through its new or existing partnerships, which reach 162 partnerships in more than 100 countries, including 31 code-sharing partnerships, 118 interline partnerships, and 13 multimodal transport partnerships.
Emirates Airlines explained that customers of partner airlines, traveling with it, can reach destinations on its network of more than 140 destinations and connect flights at Dubai International Airport.
During the past year, the carrier launched 16 new partnerships, including codeshare agreements with Avianca and Batik Air Malaysia.
The carrier has completed interline partnerships with Kam Air, SriLankan Airlines, Condor, Flynas, Viva Aerobus, SunExpress, Maldivian Airlines, Siberian Airlines and Kenya Airways.
“Emirates has doubled down on its strategy over the past year to strengthen its global presence and expand its presence across six continents, by signing new partnerships with airlines, rail and air transport operators to provide multiple destination options and enhance connectivity and seamless access for passengers,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
