The local company “Spring Valley”, which is operating in the supply of food and agricultural commodities, has announced its investment in developing a new distribution center for basic food commodities, in the free zone of Jabal Ali (Jafza), at a value of 184 million dirhams.
The area of the new facility extends over more than 106,000 square feet, with advanced abilities in processing and storage, including packaging, roasting and grinding operations for consumer food products.
The first phase of the project is scheduled to be completed within two years, and as soon as it enters the full operating stage, the center is expected to work to treat more than 65 thousand metric tons annually from the essential food components, such as legumes, spices and nuts, which achieves annual returns exceeding 440 million dirhams .
“This step confirms the commitment to invest in innovative solutions to secure the future of global food supplies, as food security is one of the most urgent issues at the present time In light of expectations indicating a significant increase in the growth of the global population by 2050.
He added that «Dubai contributes to a pivotal role as a food trade center, as it deals with 75% of food and beverage imports to the UAE», stressing the continuation of the innovation march, the Dubai Werlding station for food and beverages, its advanced logistical network, and its vital business community.
For his part, the CEO of Spring Valley for Food Industries, Thoms Matthew, said that the strategic location next to a global -level port will guarantee the efficiency of logistics services, which contributes to the mandate of the UAE’s position as a leading food center.
