George Weah praises the development of the sports sector in Dubai

Former world football star and current member of the Liberian Parliament, George Weah, expressed his admiration for the development witnessed by the sports sector in Dubai, and the promising investment opportunities in this field, thanks to the wise policy, legislation and facilities provided to those wishing to invest in it.

This came during the reception of the Vice-Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, Khalfan Belhoul, and the Secretary-General of the Council, Saeed Hareb, with the international star, who is currently visiting the Emirates with his accompanying delegation.

Belhoul gave an explanation to the international star about the prospects for development witnessed by the sports sector in Dubai, and the government legislation and facilities that support investment in the field of academies and facilities, centers for attracting and developing talented people and organizing sporting events, which have contributed to the flow of investments in various areas of the sports sector.

Weah expressed the love and appreciation he has for the country and people of the Emirates, and his admiration for the development the country is witnessing in all fields, which has become a role model for the happiness and well-being of society, security and safety, technical development, and the growth of the economy, tourism, industry and investment.

He stressed that he is proud of the relationship that links him with the Emirates, and his wonderful memories when he was a player and captain of the Al Jazira Club team during the period from 2000 to 2002.

The day before yesterday, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Football Association, received in his office at the Federation’s headquarters in the capital, Abu Dhabi, former world football star George Weah.

The Football Association stated in a press statement that the meeting dealt with a number of football-related topics, and recalled some memories of international star George Weah during his professional experience at Al-Jazira Club, which lasted for two seasons from 2000 – 2002.
