Tours The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, had many private tours around the country, during which he would suddenly stop in front of a man who appeared from his features to be a non-citizen, a non-Arab, and to be a simple construction worker or farmer on a farm, calling him and asking him questions. About his name, his family, his livelihood, whether he is comfortable with his work or not, and if he has a problem he orders it to be solved, then gives him a sum of money and continues his tour. This noble position has been repeated. A lot in different regions. |
Al-Falahi said that one day, a woman (of Arab nationality) called while eating lunch, crying because of her husband’s imprisonment, following a financial loss in a business project, and the accumulation of debts on him, asking for her help and his release, especially since he is the sole breadwinner for her family, so that she could From feeding her children, she asked to tell Sheikh Zayed about her problem, stressing that she and her husband came to the country looking for good, but fate led them into this problem.
He added that as soon as the late deceased heard her problem, he ordered the husband’s case to be investigated, and if he was not involved in a misdemeanor or crime and was arrested only because of the debt, it would be paid in full, and he would be given the equivalent of money so he could start his project again, which the wife met with in a similar situation. Of extreme joy.
accident
According to Al-Falahi, in 1982, Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him, was driving his car himself and roaming the streets of Abu Dhabi, inspecting construction work and the conditions of citizens. The car was not marked with the flag, as is customary for heads of state, and there were no guard cars in front or behind it. Rather, may God have mercy on him, he would stop at traffic lights, as required by the traffic system, and car drivers were often surprised that whoever stopped at the traffic lights on their right or left was… Head of state.
On this day, he drove his car to one of the closed roundabouts, where traffic priority was given to those coming from the right, unlike the rest of the roundabouts. He was surprised by a taxi driven by a driver (of Asian nationality) that collided with his car so hard that he, may God have mercy on him, was injured in his shoulder and traveled for treatment. Outside, after realizing that the taxi driver had priority at that roundabout, he pardoned him and satisfied him.
generosity
Al-Falahi narrated that one of the positions that reflects the generosity of the late Sheikh Zayed, during his trip for treatment in the United States, which took nearly seven months, is that he learned that a group of Arabs were visiting this hospital where he was being treated, and some of them were staying in hotels adjacent to the hospital, so he issued a statement. He ordered that the hospital restaurant open its doors to its visitors at his own expense day and night, and the food was not limited to Arabs only, but included visitors of all religions and nationalities.
handshake
Al-Falahi continued: “He, may God have mercy on him, was driving around one day in his car, inspecting the Abu Dhabi Corniche, and he noticed an Arab woman who recognized him from afar and began to greet him. When he approached her, he heard her saying that she wished to shake hands with Sheikh Zayed, so he ordered the driver to stop and called her, so she ran to greet him, and naturally The situation was greater than her imagination and comprehension, so she held her tongue, shook his hand, may God have mercy on him, and continued. She held his hand without saying a word, and with his humanity and compassion, he realized what she was in, so he began to comfort her, smile at her, and ask her about her and her family’s conditions, but she remained staring without a word, so he asked her about her need, and she said that she had spent 16 years in the Emirates, and she only wanted his safety. He asked her. If she needed money, she said, “We are a well-off family, and my husband works in one of the oil companies, and I only dreamed of shaking your hand, because you are the only Arab leader who… People can approach him and shake his hand, and I never dreamed of that in my country.
So he continued, may God have mercy on him, comforting her with his affectionate smile, and came back to ask her, “Do you need something?” Do you have a problem for us to solve for you?
She said impulsively, “Now my problem has begun.” He smiled, may God have mercy on him, saying, “Before he gets to know her problem, we will solve it for you, God willing.” He asked her, “What is your problem?” She said: My family, relatives, and friends will not believe that I shook hands with Sheikh Zayed, hand in hand. He laughed, may God have mercy on him, and said to her: We will make them believe.
Al-Falahi adds: “He ordered me, may God have mercy on him, to take her phone number, and in the evening I was knocking on the door of her house, and I had a sum of money, a set of valuable gifts and a women’s watch with his picture on it, may God have mercy on him, and I conveyed to her a message from him: ‘Now they will believe that you shook hands with Zayed, hand in hand. ».
dinner
One of the situations narrated about Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him, is that he ordered the distribution of dinner to all residents of the Al-Mubazzarah area in the city of Al Ain, when he was walking around the area. He also ordered the police cars to ask those in the area to remain in their places, and to inform them that dinner tonight was from the Sheikh. Zayed, and it was made available to everyone present. After he returned to the palace in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, he asked: Did the people have dinner? How many meals did you serve them? They answered him that 3,000 meals had been served, and that all the people had eaten dinner, and then, may God have mercy on him, he felt comfortable, happy, and reassured.
Eid
One of his stances, may God bless his soul, was that while he was wandering the streets of Abu Dhabi on the morning of Eid al-Fitr, he saw a man of Asian nationality walking with his family, and His Highness ordered him to give him a sum of money (Eidiya), so that he could feel joy and happiness with his family members. Also, during one of his tours, he stopped, may God have mercy on him, in front of a worker and started calling him, asking him about his name and country, and how comfortable and reassured he felt in the country, and His Highness, may God have mercy on him, ordered him to give him a sum of money in appreciation of him.
Rain
In 1988, heavy rains fell on the Emirates, and the late Sheikh Zayed was asking about the details from Pakistan, where he was spending his vacation. It happened that the torrential rains poured down and flooded many villages and destroyed some roads. He personally followed up on the process of repairing what the rains had ruined, and allocated a group of Municipal vehicles, the armed forces, and two helicopters rescued those stranded due to the floods. On that day, a large number of people were saved, and he was keen on the safety of the people and providing what they asked for. And compensate them for what they lost.
