“ICAO” chooses the UAE representative as a member of the “Edward Warner” committee

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has announced the selection of the permanent representative of the UAE to ICAO, Eng. Saeed Mohammed Al -Suwaidi, as a member of the Edward Warner Award committee, which is the highest Order of the Organization of the Organization, in honor of the exceptional contributions in the field of international civil aviation.

“We are proud to choose Eng. Mohamed El -Suwaidi for the membership of the Edward Warner Award, which is one of the most important and highest aviation awards in the world,” said Saif Muhammad Al -Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation,.

He added: «The choice of the representative of the country for this position is a new testimony to the leading position of the UAE in the international civil aviation sector, as it reflects global confidence in Emirati competencies and cadres.

For his part, the permanent representative of the UAE at ICAO, Eng. Saeed Mohammed Al -Suwaidi, said: “I am honored to join the Edward Warner Award committee, and contribute to honoring individuals and institutions who have made a tangible difference in international civil aviation. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the committee to support this ancient award and enhance the spirit of excellence in the sector.

It is noteworthy that the “Edward Warner Award” was established in honor of Dr. Edward Warner, one of the global civil aviation pioneers, and the first president of the ICAO Council.

This award is the greatest individual honor that the international community for civil aviation can give, as it derives its importance from being awarded by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on behalf of its member states, and there is no other international award that provides this wide level of appreciation.

The committee collects nominations for the award from the 193 member states, in addition to institutions or individuals, then the committee shall make its recommendations to the ICAO council to approve the person or institution whose contributions are in the service of the most distinctive civil aviation.
