The national bodybuilding team player, Khalid Al Zarouni, succeeded in overcoming the strong challenges he faced for many years while practicing bodybuilding, but he did not submit to the difficulties, because of his love for this sport, so he was able to continue and join the national team, and reach the international podiums.
The main challenge that Al Zarouni faced was that he had to undergo daily bodybuilding training at different times, not fixed times, and according to the available work conditions. This is a difficult matter for bodybuilding athletes who need to adjust training times so as not to disrupt the body’s “biological clock,” which could negatively affect many of its vital functions.
Player Khaled Al Zarouni succeeded in winning three international medals: the gold medal in the first Gulf Bodybuilding and Physique Championship held in Bahrain last year, the gold medal in the Abu Dhabi Expo International Championship, and the bronze medal in the 2023 West Asian Championship, in addition to many local medals.
Al Zarouni told Al-Emarat Al-Youm: “I work in a job that requires me to work in shifts at three different times during the day, which requires me to choose a time for training every day that coincides with my rest time.”
“Many times I train in the morning when my shift is at noon, or I train late at night when my shift is at the beginning of the evening, and so on. Not adhering to training at a fixed time does not serve the bodybuilder, because of the ‘biological clock’ and its importance in regulating physical effort, in addition to the conflict in the timing of meals, which is extremely important for the bodybuilder,” he explained.
Al Zarouni stressed that his determination and persistence to continue practicing his favorite sport and representing the national team made him adapt to the available time slots to continue his usual technical and physical training, noting that his next goal is to win the gold medal in the Asian and World Championships.
For his part, the national team doctor, Dr. Saeed Sasani, explained to “Emarat Al Youm” that the training and nutritional condition that player Khalid Al Zarouni is going through is one of the rare cases, as it is known that a bodybuilder needs stable training and adherence to the timing of the diet, indicating that “Al Zarouni has a distinctive athletic mentality, which enabled him to overcome the difficulties he faces and become a champion.”
