Nawatum, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Safina Shipping Services, a leading provider of shipping and shipping agency services in Egypt and the Middle East. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2024, according to a statement issued yesterday. Nawatum Marine Services’ acquisition of Safina Shipping Services, a subsidiary of Nawatum, represents a milestone in its strategic growth journey, as it benefits from the expertise and capabilities of Safina Shipping Services, and works to enhance its share and reputation in the Egyptian maritime services market.

The acquisition of Safina Shipping Services is a strategic step for Nawatom Marine Services, as part of its continued expansion across the Mediterranean, which recently included the launch of its offices in Turkey, in addition to its growth in the Middle East, which represents a major market on which the company’s global strategy is based.

The deal comes in light of Abu Dhabi Ports Group’s extensive presence in Egypt, which was recently strengthened by signing concession agreements to manage and operate cruise ship and ro-ro terminals in the ports of Safaga, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh and Sokhna.
