This year, the award also received thousands of applications from applicants for about 33 national teacher awards inspired by the “Best Teacher Award in the World,” and the winners were also taken. The National Teacher Awards were taken into consideration when determining the final list of the 50 best teachers nominated for the award.

The top 10 teachers were selected from 50 teachers who made it to the shortlist announced in December 2018. By highlighting their stories, the Varkey Foundation hopes it can arouse public interest and awareness of the importance of the teacher’s role in building society. The name of the final winner of the award will be announced during the “Global Education and Skills Forum”, which will be held in Dubai on Sunday, March 24, 2019.
