Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Operations Affairs, Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zaffin, confirmed that parading young Emiratis in front of a radar device in Germany is inappropriate behavior, indicating that they belong to the category of reckless drivers, and do not express the behavior of Emirati citizens outside the country, in their commitment By the laws of the countries they visit.

The German newspaper Der Spiegel published on its website that four young Emirati men deliberately paraded in front of a radar device, despite their awareness that they would be photographed, while the car driver was driving at an insane speed exceeding 193 kilometers per hour on a 100-kilometer road.

Countries that do not tolerate speeding tickets

Major General Muhammad Saif Al-Zaffin explained to “Emirates Al-Youm” that European countries such as Germany have absolutely no tolerance for such violations that are linked to speed and recklessness, indicating that the value of the fine due expresses this, stressing that whoever transgresses at home usually does so abroad. .

Al-Zaffin told Emirates Al-Youm that it is normal for them to be violated according to German law, so what they did remains a traffic violation in the end, as long as it does not go beyond committing an obscene act, such as directing obscene signals to the radar, as happens sometimes, but it remains unacceptable behavior, and it is not It gives a civilized image commensurate with the reputation of the country to which they belong.

He added: “What message do you want to convey when you are driving your car at crazy speed, deliberately smiling at the radar, or making signals with your hand?”, stressing: “This is wrong, and should not come from our youth, especially in light of the existence of a stereotypical image of the Gulf citizen that he has Money, and he doesn’t care about the laws as long as he can pay the fines.”

He pointed out that some of the individual actions that Emirati society condemns harm the public image, calling for these young people to be directed and addressed by the competent authorities such as the Ministry of Interior, and to make them aware of the repercussions of this behavior, and the necessity of not committing it again, otherwise other measures will be taken against them.

He explained that there are measures taken by Dubai Police against people who deliberately parade in front of the radar and engage in immoral behavior, pointing out that the situation is different in this case, as it goes from a mere traffic violation to a criminal report, as long as it is associated with offensive behavior, pointing to the arrest of a person last year. He made an obscene gesture at the radar located on the Dubai Mall Bridge, and was referred to the police station for intentional insult.

The German magazine “Der Spiegel” published on its website that four young Emirati men will not forget a photo taken by a radar while they were spending a summer vacation in the city of Erchenburg in the state of Bavaria, after the radar monitored the crazy speed at which the driver was driving his car.

She explained that “the speed of the car in which four Emirati young men were traveling was 193 kilometers per hour, on a 100-kilometer road, but the strange thing is that the young men – as appears from the picture – noticed the presence of the radar device, and this was evident by their waving their hands and the victory sign towards The camera and their smile for the picture.

She reported that they were surprised by the German police waiting for them upon their arrival at the airport and returning the car they had rented, and they were not allowed to leave until they paid a fine of 1,236 euros.
