He said that 51,891 traffic violations (excluding theft violations) were recorded through the advanced “Burj” radar within 11 months, including 109 violations for not wearing a seat belt, 86 violations for using a phone with the hand while driving, and 19 violations for not installing number plates in the designated place. He added that drivers believe that radar devices are used to monitor speeders only, but Dubai Police has practically begun monitoring more than one violation via radar devices to reduce public objections to violations in absentia, such as not wearing a seat belt and talking on a mobile phone.

He pointed out that Dubai Police is the first to use the “Burj” radar, technically known as “Vitronic” in the region, and it is distinguished by its ability to photograph in both directions, distinguish vehicles in an intelligent way, and can monitor truck violations individually, in addition to the possibility of using it to monitor vehicles that are stuck in a way. aggression.

He explained that overtaking on the shoulder of the road is also one of the annoying violations that causes a lot of congestion and danger, especially on the left side, so Dubai Police programmed radar devices to monitor it, and has actually seized, since the beginning of this year, 21,374 violations.

Al Mazrouei said that the administration has developed the use of this type of radar at intersections, so that it can detect speeders while crossing signals, even if they are green, in addition to the possibility of photographing red signal runners from all directions, even those who circumvent while turning to the opposite direction or turning right or left. From the beginning of this year until the end of November, 20,780 violations of breaking a red light were actually seized.

He added that modern radars also picked up 6,512 violations of heavy vehicles not adhering to the mandatory lane, and 3,009 violations of vehicle drivers not adhering to traffic signs and instructions, or driving during ban times, pointing out that these devices can distinguish the speed of trucks from other vehicles.

He pointed out that 52 multi-camera “tower” devices were installed on Sheikh Zayed Road, in addition to 31 devices to control crossing red lights.

Al Mazrouei said, “The administration preferred to deploy this modern type of radar on Sheikh Zayed Road due to the heavy traffic that characterizes the road, and the tendency of some drivers to commit violations such as not leaving enough distance and overtaking in the wrong way.”

He stressed that radars represent a deterrent to reckless people, and contributed to reducing deaths, pointing out that the traffic fatality index in Dubai decreased, during the first nine months of this year, by an estimated 8%, with 122 deaths, compared to 131 deaths during the same period last year.
