His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, confirmed that the Nabataeans came to the United Arab Emirates about 4,000 years ago from the Transjordan region, when this region was completely devoid of population, and they are the origin of its population, according to His Highness’s study. And his research on the topic of tribes.
His Highness stated in his telephone interview with the “Al-Rabaa and Al-Nas” program, which is broadcast live on Al-Rabaa Radio from the Emirate of Ajman, that “the Transjordan region,” from which the Nabataeans came, was the first region that began to develop in human history, even thousands of years before the development of China. Pointing out that the tribes that came from there and settled in the United Arab Emirates were the origin of development when the region was depopulated.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah added that the result of this social development in the Transjordan region made the human being on that land, instead of being a gatherer and gatherer of fruits from under trees, a grower of them, and instead of being a hunter of animals and poultry, he worked on raising sheep and livestock.
His Highness added that as a result of the development taking place in the Transjordan region, the place became crowded and the region began to expand, and the Nabataean state was formed about 6,000 years ago.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah stated that 4,000 years before this date, these numbers crossed from the Nabataean state along the coast of the Hijaz Mountains until they reached the Emirates and Oman, stressing that the origin of the inhabitants of the Emirates and these people are from this country called the Nabataean state, and he pointed out that When these Nabataeans came to the Emirates, they brought many things that were present in that region, and they transported them to this place that was devoid of people.
His Highness confirmed that the Al-Shahouh and Habus tribes, or the Dhahurians, are the origin of the people of the United Arab Emirates who came to it 4,000 years ago, when the region was devoid of population. He cited some archaeological phenomena that are considered historical evidence of the coming of the Nabataeans, and they remained present, noting that the existing graves In the area are graves with quadrilateral chambers with the same system found in Transjordan, as well as the irrigation system that exists in the Emirates and Transjordan is the same, and this is called the Daoudi, named after David bin Suleiman.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah pointed out some incorrect narratives that say that Malik bin Fahm is the origin of the inhabitants of this region, while historical facts indicate that he arrived in this region 2,360 years ago, while the Nabataeans were present in the region about 1,700 years before him, explaining that Malik bin Fahm is a Yemeni Azdi, and there is a difference in appearance, character, and language.
His Highness said that the Nabataeans preserved their ancient language, which is the ancient Arabic language, and it is the same language that they speak, and they were able to preserve it because of their isolation, and he added that when Malik bin Fahm came to the region, the Nabatean tribes were the rulers, and then after that some of them returned to eastern Jordan, Others took refuge in the mountains.
He added that those who came from Yemen are Arabs as well, pointing out that it is said in history that the Arabs of Oman “developed,” that is, they became Nabataeans, and from it comes Nabataean poetry that does not originally exist in Arab countries or other Arab tongues, while it is another tongue called Nabataean, This poetry does not exist in the Arabian Peninsula.
He pointed out that other tribes came to the region some time before and after the arrival of Islam.
He talked about the origins of the naming of the tribes belonging to the Nabataeans, indicating that the Habus were called that because they were confined in the mountains, while the Dhahurians were given this name because they showed zakat when they collected it, and the greedy were given this name because they were stingy with zakat after an incident related to beating a woman among them who refused to give zakat, stressing that His Highness said that what was said about the greedy people, that they are the apostasy of Oman, is baseless.
His Highness described the route that the Nabataeans followed when they came to the United Arab Emirates, pointing out that they did not cross the desert due to the lack of water, so they came through the mountains of Tabuk and reached the Hijaz, and from the Hijaz they came here, and from the evidence that confirms the authenticity of the origins dating back to the Nabataeans that occur His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah said that when samples of the people of the Arabian Peninsula were taken and analyzed using DNA, it was found that they belonged to the Nabataeans, especially since they settled in other places as a result of their backwardness on the road during their arrival to the state.
