The medical team in Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi, was able to save the life of an Emirati girl who was born in the 22nd week of pregnancy (fifth month), where she stayed four and a half months in intensive care for children.

And due to the lack of completion of its growth, a multidisciplinary team has performed during that period six surgeries, until she left the hospital in a good health condition, to complete its growth naturally like other children.

Salama was born in the week only 22.5 with a weight of 500 grams, after her mother entered the hospital in an early labor stage, where the medical team provided her with the necessary support to delay the birth of 10 days, to give a chance to the twin that she was carrying to complete their growth inside the womb, but the brother of the twin safety did not survive . The medical team stated that Salama was born long before her time and her lungs were incomplete, as she was facing multiple medical challenges, including securing her airway, setting a strategy for ventilation, and managing its intolerance to nutrition. After overcoming critical moments such as recovery, relying on oxygen and multiple surgeries, a safe condition began to settle slowly. The child was also injured within a few weeks after she was born with a tear in the intestine, causing her severe flatulence and infection, as she had an emergency surgery that saved her life.
