Summoning 235.1 thousand defective commodities from the state markets during 2024

The Ministry of Economy revealed that 235 thousand and 179 commodities and a defective producer from the state markets were withdrawn and summoned, for all reasons related to safety.

The Ministry stated, in a report issued yesterday, on the processes of withdrawing and summoning defective commodities in 2024, that the summons took place through 115 requests, while the number of cars, buses, trucks and motorcycles that was withdrawn exceeded 154.3 thousand, which is 65.6% of the total cases of calling for defective goods, noting that among the vehicles included in the summons, electric cars.

The report added that the calls included prominent and varied brands, working in various sectors and fields, including cars, trucks, buses, marine bicycles, motorcycles and boats, in addition to electric charges, batteries, equipment, industrial machinery, electrical products, mixers and electronics, as well as children’s carts, children’s games, desktops, equipment and home appliances

According to the report, the car summons were carried out in cooperation with more than 26 agencies and a company operating in the country, namely: “Al -Tayer Motors”, “Al -Kindi Motors”, Al -Futtaim Commercial Company, “Youssef Motors”, “General Motors”, “Tesla”, Al -Tamimi Law Office, “Gargash Projects”, the Arab Motor Company, “Al Habtoor Motors”, and the Projects Company Commercial, Ann Al -Awn, “Al -Ratmani Commercial”, “Jumaa Al Majid Motors”, “Emirates Motors”, “Youssef Habib Al -Youssef”, “Al Naboodah Motors”, Mechanical Center for Cars, Ali and Sons, “Al -Ittihad Motors”, Altimit Motors, the First International Group, Raharoud General Trade, Limited, “Annovish”, and “Al -Tamimi and his partners Astk AS”.

In its report, the ministry indicated that the origin of defective cars and goods, which were withdrawn during the past year, included 15 countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, North America, China, Germany, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, the Philippines, South Africa, Mexico and South Korea, along with the UAE.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the summons is to withdraw the defective or dangerous commodities from the market, through the provider, the relevant authority or the relevant authority in the UAE, the country of origin, or any other country, provided that the calls of defective goods are carried out under the supervision of competition and consumer protection in the Ministry of Economy, in cooperation with manufacturers and agents of the commodity in the country. This measure aims to protect the health and safety of consumers and their rights, ensure the rights of retailers and manufacturers and maintain the stability of the market in the state.

The summons service provided by the Ministry of Economy allows the providers, manufacturers and agents of the commodity to report defective goods by filling the summons form to withdraw these defective or dangerous goods from the market.

This service allows all members of society to see these goods and search for goods that do not conform to specifications and standards, which harm the consumer. This service is a reference for the commodities and consumer services that the competent authorities call, and also provides some information and regulations related to the summons system.
