The brother of the deceased, Rashid Ali Al Shehhi, told Emirates Al-Youm that his brother Sultan traveled with his friends to Thailand for tourism and hiking, rejoicing in his graduation from Zayed Military College, two weeks ago.
He explained that his brother is not married and loves traveling and tourist trips, adding that Sultan “traveled last Saturday with his friends to Thailand, and before the sunset prayer yesterday, one of his friends accompanying him called my family and informed them that Sultan had gone missing while they were hiking in a mountainous waterfall area.”
Rashid Al Shehhi said that the deceased was sitting with his colleagues on a mountain in the area and went alone for a walk, leaving his friends in the same place without informing them of his destination, noting that over time his friends discovered that he had been absent from them for a long time.
Al Shehhi continued, “All his friends searched for him, in the place he went to, and as time passed into the night, they lost hope of searching and finding him. They contacted the UAE embassy in Bangkok, which informed the Bangkok police about the incident, and they formed a team to search for him in “The same mountainous area where he went missing.”
He added, “This morning, the police and his friends found Sultan’s body thrown in the river below the mountain waterfalls. Initial reports indicate that Sultan had fallen from the top of the mountain, due to his imbalance and lack of knowledge of the place well, and that his love of curiosity and watching natural areas and waterfalls made him slip and fall from the mountain.” Mountain.
He pointed out that he did not expect his brother to have jumped from the top of the mountain for the purpose of swimming in the river, because he cannot swim well, stressing that his brother is traveling for the first time to Pangenga Governorate, despite his second trip to Thailand and to many tourist areas there.
For its part, the UAE Embassy in the Thai capital, Bangkok, announced today, via its Twitter account, the death of the young citizen, Sultan Al Shehhi, following his disappearance yesterday evening, in the Pangenga province, which is “50” kilometers from the coastal island of Phuket. The embassy indicated that search personnel Rescuers were able to find Al-Shehhi’s body.
In a related context, the UAE Ambassador to Thailand, Mohammed Ali Omran Al Shamsi, confirmed today, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after receiving the news of the citizen’s disappearance, coordinated with the UAE Embassy in Bangkok to search and investigate him in cooperation with the relevant local authorities.”
He added, “After searching and investigating, the Thai authorities were able to find his body, and the necessary procedures are being completed to transport his body to state land as quickly as possible. We ask God Almighty to rest the deceased in His vast mercy and to inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace.”
