In detail, Al Mazrouei said that two people died and four others were injured in a collision that occurred on Emirates Road in the direction leading to Sharjah, where a heavy truck stopped in the third lane from the left on the highway, which is not designated for truck traffic, while a pickup truck was coming from… The driver noticed too late that the truck was stopping, so he tried to avoid the collision by using the brakes at a distance of 50 meters, but he was unable to do so, and he collided with the truck from behind, which led to the death of another person and the injury of four others. Al Mazrouei pointed out that Dubai Traffic was keen to intensify traffic patrols during the recent period on highways to catch violating trucks, in light of the repeated accidents caused by this type of vehicle.

He revealed a relative decrease in the traffic fatalities index during the first two weeks of this Ramadan, with four deaths compared to seven cases during the same period last Ramadan, attributing this to awareness efforts and traffic presence during peak hours.

He explained that the total number of accidents recorded in the first two weeks of this Ramadan amounted to 34 accidents, resulting in the death of four people and the injury of 31 others, with 10 serious, six moderate, and 15 minor injuries, pointing out that most of the deaths and injuries were among drivers, with 19 people compared to 13. One passenger and three pedestrians.

He reported that the same period last year witnessed 87 accidents, resulting in the death of seven people and the injury of 70 others with varying injuries, including seven serious, 39 moderate, and 24 minor injuries, in which 40 drivers, 26 passengers, and 11 pedestrians were exposed.
