The General Secretariat of the Khalifa Educational Award stressed the importance of employing innovative tools and methods in early childhood care and creating a stimulating environment for the child in his early stages of life to instill his innovation and creativity skills through thoughtful scientific and applied strategies.

This came during the dialogue session organized by the Award’s General Secretariat as part of introducing the mission and objectives of the Khalifa International Award for Early Education, which the Award presents worldwide in two categories: the research and studies category, and the projects, programmes, curricula, methodologies and teaching methods category.

The session was held under the title “Promoting Early Learning and Development in Low- and Middle-Income Countries,” and speakers included Professor Nirmala Rao, Serena H. C. Yang Professor of Early Childhood Development and Education and Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Child Development and Education at the University of Hong Kong, and Candice Potgieter, CEO. “Unlimited Child”, the previous winner of the 17th cycle. Dr. Milagros Norris, Co-Director of the National Institute for Early Education Research, was moderated by Professor Stephen Barnett, Co-Director of the National Institute for Early Education Research and Board of Governors Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University, USA.

At the beginning of the session, Professor Stephen Barnett stressed the importance of the mission and objectives of the Khalifa International Award for Early Education, which aims to enhance the various social, physical, mental, intellectual, creative, psychological, cognitive and emotional fields in the years of early education and childhood, and to enrich distinguished innovative education programs with research, studies, programs and curricula. He pointed out that the objectives of this field also focus on activating and encouraging the role of specialized centers, institutions and education companies in the field of early childhood, highlighting and appreciating the most successful experiences and practices of parents or individuals interested in child care and development, providing early education services, and benefiting from the best studies and the most successful programs and methodologies. She said that social entrepreneurship plays a prominent role in transforming early childhood development services in low- and middle-income countries into high-quality services, as social enterprises are in a unique position to bridge the gaps in access and quality by providing innovative solutions to early learning challenges, by integrating developments Technology, community models, and policy reform. These projects also have the potential to address systemic barriers and create sustainable and scalable early childhood development frameworks.
