Ras Al Khaimah Police arrested the “masked thief,” (an Asian in his thirties), who stole the contents of several vehicles in various areas of the emirate within a short time, after breaking their windows while hiding behind a mask he was wearing in an attempt to prevent his features from being recognized.

The Director General of Police Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, Brigadier General Dr. Tariq Mohammed bin Saif, said that several reports had been received by the relevant authorities in the command about an unknown person stealing the contents of vehicles, after breaking one of their windows in a number of areas of the emirate.

A group of videos and photos of stolen vehicles were spread across social media.

He added that the administration quickly formed a specialized team of men from the Criminal Investigations Department, and developed a comprehensive plan of action to collect the necessary evidence and begin the search for the perpetrator. He explained that the efforts were successful by identifying a suspect, who turned out to be an Asian resident. He confirmed that the accused confessed during police investigations to breaking the windows of the vehicles and stealing their valuable contents, pointing out that he was referred to the Public Prosecution to complete the legal procedures followed against him.

He also confirmed the arrest and arrest of the person who published and promoted the clips and photos of stolen vehicles, calling for not publishing and circulating such types of clips and photos to prevent any negative effects on the process of investigations and legal procedures, and to avoid the perpetrators taking the necessary precautions that make it difficult to reach them.

He continued that Article 52 of the Law on Combating Rumors and Electronic Crimes stipulates that anyone who uses the information network or any means of information technology to broadcast, publish, re-publish, circulate or re-circulate shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of not less than one year and a fine of not less than 100 thousand dirhams.
