Yesterday, the Ministry of Finance signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), which is considered one of the most prominent global institutions in this field.
The Ministry stated, in a statement, that the memorandum aims to launch a specialized certificate in the fields of procurement and supply during the year 2025, known as the “CIPS Practitioner Level Diploma,” which constitutes a pioneering and qualitative initiative to develop national competencies and innovation in the government sector, and to enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness.
The memorandum was signed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Younis Haji Al-Khoury, and the Regional Director of the Institute, Sam Achampong, for the Legal Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
Al-Khoury said: “This partnership reflects the Ministry of Finance’s commitment to an integrated vision to enhance global leadership in public finance and sustainable development,” noting that cooperation with the Legal Institute for Purchasing and Supply opens new horizons for developing national competencies, by providing advanced educational programs that contribute to improving government performance and enhancing… He added that the launch of the “CIPS Practitioner Level Diploma” certificate represents an additional step in enhancing the capabilities of federal government employees to adopt innovative strategies in purchasing and supply, with a focus on financial and environmental sustainability.
For his part, Achampong said: “We are proud to cooperate with the Ministry of Finance in the UAE to support national cadres with innovative specialized certificates. The new CIPS Practitioner Level Diploma certificate aims to enhance the capabilities of government employees in adopting effective and sustainable strategies in purchasing and supply operations, in keeping with global changes.” It achieves the best results.”
The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) certification targets financial managers, purchasing managers, and heads of departments specialized in procurement in the federal government to raise the level of their professional and analytical skills and apply effective purchasing strategies that contribute to achieving financial and environmental sustainability, while ensuring enhanced efficiency in government procurement processes.
