The Director General of the Traffic Coordination Department at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Ghaith Al Zaabi, called on members of the public to adhere to the instructions issued regarding the requirements for celebrating National Day on all state roads, and to abide by traffic laws and regulations, stressing the Ministry’s keenness to take all measures so that the National Day celebration is free of traffic. Any traffic accidents may disturb the peace of the celebrants on this occasion.
For its part, the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of the Abu Dhabi Police prepared a temporary impoundment square on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, to seize vehicles violating the laws and traffic controls in the National Day celebration parades. These violations include failure to adhere to decoration regulations, and driving recklessly and chaotically, which constitutes an inconvenience to others.
The Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, stated that a traffic plan has been prepared in which traffic “patrols and investigations” participate, to provide traffic safety and reduce violations, during celebrations on all roads, and in the places where marches are held in Abu Dhabi. Stressing that all roads will be monitored through cameras deployed on the various roads, as a specialized team will record and photograph vehicle violations, so that they will be seized immediately.
He confirmed the application of immediate impoundment of vehicles during this year, unlike previous years, in the temporary impoundment yard on the Corniche Street in Abu Dhabi, specifically in the area opposite the Hilton Abu Dhabi Hotel, where the violating vehicles will later be transferred to the main impoundment yard. To confiscate it for a month, in addition to imposing a fine of 2,000 dirhams and registering 12 traffic points against those who commit violations.
Al-Harithi also stressed the immediate impoundment of all vehicles that cause damage to public property, including sidewalks and environmental components, in addition to disrupting traffic and closing roads to others, and all traffic behavior that reflects an uncivilized image of the state’s achievements.
He pointed out that the Directorate has set the conditions for decorating vehicles during National Day celebrations, enabling various segments of society to express their joy on this dear national occasion, in a civilized spirit, without committing any violations of traffic rules.
Al-Harithi stated that the rules for decorating cars during National Day are: not to change the color of the vehicle or put stickers and write words that offend modesty, not to load the vehicle more than the prescribed number, not to exit the windows, as well as not to darken or tint the windshield.
He warned drivers against obliterating the front and rear numbers of the vehicle, performing acrobatic and showy movements on the roads, disrupting traffic, blocking the road for others, and other things that spread chaos and disturbance on the roads, in addition to not providing the vehicle with means that cause noise and disturbance.
Al-Harithi stressed the need to deal firmly with anyone who engages in uncivilized behavior on the road that does not comply with the meanings embodied by the celebration of National Day, which is represented by the use of spray sprays and getting out of vehicles on public roads, as their vehicles will be impounded immediately.
The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic Director called on drivers, including car owners who wish to decorate them, to adhere to the decoration conditions set by the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate and published in the media, accompanied by illustrations in accordance with traffic safety standards, during the specified period of November 30.
