The “Road 2.0” initiative… 17 companies adopt electric vehicles to reduce emissions

The signatories to the “Road 2.0” initiative, which operates under the umbrella of the Emirates Climate Action Alliance, announced the publication of a statement of intent, to adopt and promote the use of zero-emission vehicles (vehicles that do not produce emissions through exhaust pipes), in a first-of-its-kind offer that reflects the strong demand by Companies on electric vehicles in the UAE. This statement is a call to action addressed to all parties involved in the electric vehicle system, with the aim of uniting efforts to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles within commercial fleets.

The initiative currently includes 17 signatories offering their pioneering efforts to test and expand the use of commercial electric vehicles within their fleets, with the aim of achieving 30% decarbonization of the land transport fleets of these companies in the Emirates by 2030, and reaching 100% by 2040, in support of the Climate Neutrality 2050 initiative. And the demand management program (Green Mobility Strategy) in the UAE.

The “Road 2.0” initiative is a pioneering initiative in the field of decarbonizing commercial transport in the Emirates. It is supported by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. It was launched under the umbrella of the Emirates Alliance for Climate Action, which is led by the Emirates Nature Society, an environmental charity and non-governmental organization. Governmental.

The signatories to the UAE Climate Action Alliance represent a diverse group of economic sectors in the UAE, including logistics, retail, food and beverage, grocery, fast-moving consumer goods, sustainability, and others.

By the end of this year, signatories to the initiative will have included 90 commercial electric vehicles in their fleet in the UAE. Together, the signatories to the “Road 2.0” initiative aim to purchase up to 6,000 zero-emission vehicles by 2030, with the possibility of expanding to 20,000 vehicles by 2040.
