The Ruler of Sharjah directs the construction of a residence for the second wife and her children

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, directed the Housing Department in the emirate to build a government housing for the second wife and her children in some cases, so that this is not available to all “second families,” or to everyone who marries two wives, but rather According to certain conditions and for specific cases only, the extent of the eligibility of this second wife and her children to obtain that housing is proven through a request that the family submits to the Housing Department and is carefully studied, according to what the head of the Housing Department stated in Sharjah, member of the Emirate’s Executive Council, Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji.

He added that if a man married to two women obtains a government house, the department will build another house for the other wife who does not reside in that government house written in the husband’s name and obtained from the department, whether that is the first or second wife, provided that the new house is registered in her name. And the names of her children, in order to achieve family stability, and so that the new home will be a pillar of stability and prevent disputes and quarrels between the two wives and children. Stressing that this matter is subject to many controls and is not available to all families.

Al-Taniji explained that in some cases, the head of the family who has a government housing from the department houses the first and second wives together in one house, or houses one of them without the other, which results in family disputes and major quarrels between the two wives and their children, which requires providing additional housing for the family. To prevent these quarrels from occurring.

He continued that there are social cases received by the Housing Department in which the husband, upon receiving government housing, marries another new woman and leaves his wife and children in a small rental home and other cases, indicating that if this is proven, the home will be written in the name of the husband, the first wife, and the children together.

Al Tunaiji said, “His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah is aware of the needs of this group and is aware of the conditions of his female citizen daughters and sons, and is aware of their housing needs. Therefore, His Highness hastened to issue his directives to provide housing for this group to provide decent livelihoods and stability factors for the citizen family and achieve a decent life for them.”

It should be noted that the department was providing housing assistance to the husband who was previously married to only one woman.
