The UAE and Sweden sign two judicial and legal cooperation agreements

Yesterday in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Sweden signed two cooperation agreements in the judicial and legal fields between the two countries, regarding extradition and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

The two agreements were signed on behalf of the state by His Excellency Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice, while they were signed on behalf of the Kingdom of Sweden by His Excellency Gunnar Strömer, the Swedish Minister of Justice. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the delegations of the two countries and His Excellency Frederik Florinck, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the country.

Also present from the Ministry of Justice were His Excellency Judge Abdul Rahman Murad Al Balushi, Assistant Undersecretary for the International Cooperation and Legal Affairs Sector, and representatives from the Federal Public Prosecutions in the country, and from the Public Prosecution in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

During the signing ceremony, His Excellency Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi praised the bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Sweden and the bilateral relations between the two countries, and the keenness to strengthen these relations through cooperation in the judicial and legal fields.

His Excellency stressed the Ministry’s keenness to enhance cooperation in the legal and judicial fields with all countries of the world, by following the best practices applied in the courts of the two friendly countries, and building bridges of cooperation to develop and develop bilateral relations between the two sides.

He stressed the Ministry’s keenness to implement what was included in the two agreements, continue joint work, and exchange experiences in the judicial and legal fields, including money laundering, terrorist financing and organized crime, pointing out the importance of exchanging experiences and following up on the processes of implementing joint agreements in a way that serves the message of justice.

For his part, His Excellency Gunnar Stromer expressed his happiness at visiting Abu Dhabi and signing the two agreements with the Ministry of Justice, noting that judicial relations with the UAE are solid and strong.

He added: “We are happy to consolidate this by signing bilateral cooperation agreements in the legal and judicial fields, which we will continue to work to support and enhance in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly countries.”
