The Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, confirmed that the UAE, thanks to the directives of the wise leadership, is adopting a comprehensive approach to achieve sustainability in the various economic sectors in the country, especially in the tourism sector, as sustainability has been made a national priority to enhance the sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product. The state, by launching ambitious initiatives, aims to achieve a balance between economic growth and environmental preservation, which has consolidated the UAE’s position as one of the most prominent global destinations for sustainable tourism.
This came during Bin Touq’s participation in a discussion session entitled “Charting the Course: Sustainable Tourism Towards Resilient Economies,” which was held within the work of the World Economic Forum “Davos 2025,” and focused on the role of sustainable tourism as a main tool for supporting economic development and enhancing the resilience of local economies.
During his intervention, Bin Touq reviewed the distinguished UAE experience in developing innovative mechanisms for sustainability and integrating them into the tourism and travel sectors, which contributed to enhancing its presence on the global tourism map, through the launch of a number of successful initiatives and strategies, most notably the “National Tourism Strategy 2031,” which the country launched in late The year 2022 represented a turning point for moving forward in developing the tourism sector in accordance with international best practices.
