The Minister of Education, Sarah bint Youssef Al Amiri, confirmed that work is underway to launch an integrated policy to link the outcomes of vocational and technical education to the labor market, to provide suitable jobs for its graduates, indicating in her response to questions from members of the National Council during the discussion of the topic “Government policy on technical education and vocational training.” All vocational and technical education programs have been reviewed with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Nafes Program and the private sector, to ensure development and fill any gaps.

Al Amiri said: The Ministry of Education aims to redesign the vocational and technical path in government schools in cooperation with the private sector. This project has been initiated since the last academic year, which includes studying the current situation of vocational and technical education to identify gaps at all levels, starting from frameworks and policies all the way to implementation. Within schools, this is consistent with best practices.

The project, in which many strategic partners are participating, includes the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and private sector companies, with the aim of providing national curricula and qualifications based on future skills to ensure the integration of study and the possibility of joining higher education institutions and the labor market directly. A fundamental change has been brought about in the application of vocational education or path. Applied training is vocational training for students during their studies in schools to ensure integration and gain practical experiences.
