Training tests focus on 9 materials

State schools, governmental and private, which follow the curriculum of the Ministry of Education, begin the application of training tests for the second semester of the current academic year 2024-2025, for students from the fifth to 12, today, and will continue until February 12, according to the time programming set by each school.

The tests focus on nine basic subjects, including Arabic and English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, science, social studies, and Islamic education.

The Ministry of Education said through the “Student Evaluation Policy for the year 2024-2025”, which was seen by “Emirates Today”, that “formative evaluation is of two types, the first is not intended for the degree, and aims to monitor the student’s progress and support it without calculating degrees in the final rate, either The second is the evaluation that is observed, which is based on certain clear criteria for evaluating students ’performance in various tasks, such as written outcomes, projects, and achievement files, and is counted within the academic performance rate of students according to specific relative weights.

She stated that the formative evaluation includes short tests and practical performance tasks, which gives students opportunities to apply their skills and acquaintances, and is characterized by the use of accurate tools to measure strengths, weaknesses of students, to improve general performance, and ensure justice in results.

She explained that the evaluation contributes to monitoring the student’s progress and developing learning goals constantly, with a focus on enhancing creativity, communication and problem solving skills, as well as preparing students for final exams by measuring their readiness, and determining the extent of their assimilation of academic content.

She pointed out that these assessments contribute to promoting students’ participation in daily educational activities, and their understanding of learning requirements in a practical and effective manner, as it helps teachers to amend teaching plans in proportion to the different needs of students, ensuring the achievement of a comprehensive educational environment that supports everyone’s success.

The ministry said that the formative evaluation is an effective way to support the individual differences between students, as it is designed with various methods that take into account their different needs and capabilities, and also provides multiple opportunities to motivate students to learn, through interactive activities that enhance strengths and help to address weaknesses.

She pointed out that the formative evaluation is based on effective participation of teachers in designing evaluation tools, in proportion to the curricula and students ’needs, and also encourages teachers to use innovative methods that enhance the effectiveness of evaluation and achieve the desired learning goals.
