She pointed out the need for parents to deal calmly with their children’s complaints about the timing of exams, and warned against showing emotion in front of them, and adopting a positive attitude in dealing with them, which will help them accept the situation better and prevent them from using these complaints as an excuse to reduce their interest in exams.
The educational advisor, Dr. Badriya Al-Dhanhani, confirmed that the psychological pressures that students face during the exam period may affect their academic performance, and pointed out the importance of involving them in social and national activities that contribute to reducing this stress, provided that their time is organized in a way that ensures a balance between studying and recreational activities. Dr. Muhammad Yahya Nassar, a mental health consultant and lecturer in psychology and mental health at the Tamkeen Training Center, said: “There is no doubt that celebrations and their atmosphere satisfy many of the psychological needs of students in the different years of study, such as the need for happiness, contentment, fun, improving the mood, and discharging the negative energies of tension, stress, and the accumulation of stress factors. Depression,” he pointed out, “participating in celebrations with family and friends reflects positively on students’ academic and psychological performance, and achieving good psychological health.”
He added: “The celebrations also enhance the aspects of social growth and achieving social harmony for students as they are active members of society, influencing and being influenced by the group in which they live, which achieves learning the elements of social adaptation, such as a sense of belonging, and the formation of societal concepts, values and trends.”
