The Secretary -General of the Zayed Olaya Foundation, Abdullah Abdul -Ali Al -Humaidan, said that the institution is one of the institutions implementing the policies and programs of our rational government to serve the rehabilitation, care and education of those with determination to achieve the government’s goal in the general policy agenda of the Abu Dhabi government 2030, investing the great support from the generous leadership represented by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, and the unlimited support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and his continued follow -up to the institution’s projects, to achieve qualitative steps in this field for the benefit of the owners of determination and their families.


He added in a press statement to him on the occasion of the International Day of Braille, which is used by people with visual challenges in reading, that “Zayed Upper” greatly believes in the importance of enabling individuals who have determined in the local community and stresses the principle of their empowerment and support and providing the necessary logistical and moral support to them, as is keen on Providing the skill training needed to develop their skills in order to help them obtain a job or profession suitable for their inclinations and abilities in the future, to become contributing individuals in the architecture of this good country, similar to ordinary individuals


The Secretary General of the Zayed Higher Foundation for the owners of determination said that the Department of Welfare of the Blind, which is one of the departments of the People’s Sector of the Foundation, provides many qualitative services, and includes the only printing press in the UAE that prints educational materials (educational curricula, educational means), cultural and stories in a Braille manner for the blind, Its services are provided to the blind and the visual impaired state.

The administration also provides vocational training services and encourages the integration of blind people with public life, especially educational institutions, and the labor market and their employment. Work is also underway to integrate them with educational services in addition to encouraging them to join clubs and public associations.


Al -Humaidan explained that the Department of Welfare of the Blind provides a number of services related to the education of people with visual challenges in governmental and private care and rehabilitation centers, and integration schools at the state and universities level, and these services are the printing of books and curricula in Brail And printing exam models and academic summaries in Braille, printing prominent educational means, printing books and cultural stories in Brail


The Blind Press in the administration of the Zayed Upper Foundation prints many awareness and clarification publications for several government agencies and private societies in the way of Braille for the blind in the framework of the message that the Zayed Higher Foundation holds within the framework of social responsibility, and to ensure participation in social activities, and in all campaigns of concern to members of society and contribution Through the only printing publications in the country to deliver the awareness message to people with visual challenges that benefit from the work of the administration.

For its part, the Acting Director of the Care Department of the Blind, Naama Abdul Rahman Al -Mansouri, is considered the readable story project in Brail The blind to read a group of targeted stories, the first session was launched in 2007, and its sessions continued annually, and witnessed a great development from the local to the regional, then at the level of the Arab world followed it at the global level, and this project won the Khalifa Educational Award for the year 2011 in the field of educational projects and programs Innovative at the level of the United Arab Emirates.

The Department of Welfare of the Blind at the Zayed Upper Foundation for People of Determination launched an initiative entitled “Express your words” within the print prize prize in Braille in the category of writing, to advance the reality of the culture of the blind at the level And enriching the linguistic and imaginary outcome of the blind with vocabulary, meanings, images and development of love of the Arabic language, developing awareness of religious, moral and societal issues of the blind, and discovering and developing literary talents of the blind
The initiative aims to support creators from the blind, talented students in the field of authorship and writing to express themselves by enhancing the skill of writing in classical Arabic, and also provides an opportunity for blind students to write purposeful and interesting stories and novels from seeing the support of the gifted from the book to motivate the creative aspect of their, A non -profit project that aims to encourage blind people to write stories and novels in the Arabic language, noting that highlighting the anecdotal writings of the blind, will contribute to investing the literary creations of the talented writers and the blind writers in the UAE and throughout the great Arab world, as well as among the goals of this initiative enriching National blind libraries and school libraries printed in Braille.

The number of students benefiting from the services of the blind care management to print the curricula is the current academic year, 50 students, bringing the total number of students to 696 students since 2006 in various educational levels, and the number of copies printed in Braille in Brail From the curricula to 21,763 copies, while the total number of electronic copies this year reached 1348 copies of a total of 5171 copies since the launch of the service.


The number of beneficiaries of publications, publications, and awareness brochures written in Braille during the same period increased to 133, including 37 aspects of the year 2019, at 12625 copies of publications, awareness and cultural brochures and stories in Brail In the field of blind people from 2016 to the present time 147 beneficiaries.


Modern techniques and devices have been added to provide materials with “Braille” such as the device for the covers of books and printing business cards for departments and institutions in the country. Modern printers were also provided to print prominent graphics and graphic drawings for scientific materials in addition to specialized programs to transfer these materials.
