The Minister of Education, Hussein Al-Hammadi, revealed the ministry’s intention to establish the rules and foundations of education for sustainable development, to keep pace with the new global movement, indicating that there are four development paths, including curricula, activities, training, human development, and the school community.
Al-Hammadi said that the Ministry has made the trend towards education for sustainability one of its most important priorities during the next stage, and it is not limited to the state’s commitment to the international trend, and what has been adopted globally in this regard only, but rather to achieving the level of global competitiveness, and its internal obligations towards its sons and daughters. .
He stressed that sustainability has become one of the first pillars of global competitiveness, and one of the important indicators of development, progress and international classification, and measurements of the optimal use and preservation of resources, and it is also the main focus of institutional operations in the public and private sectors.
Al Hammadi identified four main paths to achieving sustainability in education, the first of which is introducing the concepts of sustainability into curricula and academic curricula, and their scientific content and cultural content, in cooperation and partnership with the Emirates Public Benefit Foundation, which has great efforts and distinguished achievements in this and other vital development areas.
He continued that the second track includes introducing the principles of sustainability into all student activities, including scientific, cultural and entertainment competitions, while the third track is concerned with including sustainability standards and practices in the training and professional development plans for all employees of the Ministry, and introducing sustainability tools and concepts into all school operations, and the track aims to The fourth is to transform the concepts and principles of sustainability to be the method of the ministry’s operational operations at its various levels, and the tool for implementing green initiatives.
