Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar) has established itself as one of the most prominent national companies contributing to the advancement and leadership of the pharmaceutical industries sector in the country. Over the course of 44 years, it has succeeded in transforming into one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the Middle East and Africa, with 80% of the company’s products being exported outside the UAE.
Julphar’s 12 internationally accredited manufacturing facilities produce up to half a million boxes of medicine daily, which are distributed in more than 40 countries across five continents. Since 2012, it has been one of the largest producers of insulin in the world, thanks to its state-of-the-art biotechnology facilities in the UAE. Julphar employs around 3,400 people, which is clear evidence of the UAE’s human, technical, scientific and logistical capabilities that enable it to excel in this type of industry.
Julphar CEO Basil Ziadeh confirmed that the company is moving forward to achieve sustainable growth at all levels, noting that it currently has a strong distribution network, including more than 280 pharmacies across the GCC countries, and is one of the largest insulin manufacturers in the world and the only one in the UAE.
He said that 80% of the company’s products are exported outside the UAE, while work is underway to develop more than 100 new products, to consolidate its approach based on providing high-quality healthcare solutions at affordable prices.
