The scholar and hadith scholar, the imam of grammar, Abu Al-Abbas Ahmad bin Yahya bin Yazid Al-Shaibani, the author of Al-Fusih and the classifications. He was born in the year 200 AH, and he was called a fox because when he was asked about a question, he would answer here and there, so they likened him to a fox when he was jealous, and he used to say: “I started looking when I was 18 years old, and when I reached 25 years old, there was no question left for fur, and I heard 100,000 hadiths from Al-Qawariri.” It was said about him that he is trustworthy, an authority, famous for his memorization, and that he is the most knowledgeable of the Kufans. He wrote books on different grammarians, recitations, and the meanings of the Qur’an, among others. He was struck by an animal, fell into a pit, and died in the year 291 AH.

They say: “So-and-so does not start or repeat,” meaning he does not say anything the first time, and he does not say anything the second time, or: He has no help, or he is of sound heart, or he has perished. The correct thing is: “So-and-so does not start or repeat,” as the authors of “Al-Sihah, Lisan Al-Arab, Al-Qamus, Al-Taj, Muhit Al-Muhit, and Al-Wasit” say. They say in the Deuteronomy of the Brother: “Two brothers quarrel,” and the correct thing to say is: “The two brothers quarrel.” Because the word “brother” is not from the weak word in which the “kha” is stressed, but it is from the imperfect word whose lamah is deleted, which is the “waw,” and therefore it must be returned in lineage, so it is said “brotherly,” and likewise in duality, so it is said: “brothers.”
