When the citizen, Ahmed Muhammad Al-Marzouqi, (32 years old), obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Human Medicine in 2010, as a “general physician,” he became fascinated by the secrets of eyes, so he continued on his path, and succeeded in obtaining the “German Board” and the “European Board” in Ophthalmology and Surgery. He achieved the title of Ophthalmology Specialist in 2018, and decided to delve deeper into the world of ophthalmology, and is currently continuing his postgraduate studies to enhance both his scientific and practical career, by specializing in retinal medicine and surgery. To obtain a consultant degree in the specialty, combining both the medical and surgical fields.
Al Marzouqi, who was sent by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and the Department of Education and Knowledge, to study “Fellowship in Retinal Medicine and Surgery” at the Technical University Hospital of Munich in Germany, stated that the first features of his specialized journey began in the internship year, which follows the bachelor’s degree in medicine. Human experience directly, during practical training in the Ophthalmology Department at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain City, where he was impressed by the modern and advanced examination and treatment methods used in this field, and loved the great humanity that characterizes it, in addition to its great importance.
He continued: “I decided to embark on a new experience, and I traveled to Munich to specialize in the field of ophthalmology, after passing a training course to learn the German language, with the aim of learning and working in all its subspecialties, including corneal medicine and surgery, immune eye diseases, and the specialty of treating glaucoma. And cosmetic ophthalmology, children, strabismus treatment, eye tumors, eye plastic surgery, and others.”
He added, “I succeeded in obtaining two specialized certificates: the German Board and the European Board in Ophthalmology and Surgery, in addition to obtaining the title of Specialist in Ophthalmology and Surgery. Among these subspecialties, I admired the specialty of retinal medicine and surgery, despite its difficulty and the difficulty of obtaining admission into it.
He explained that retinal surgery is complex and delicate, so I consider it a great challenge that I look forward to taking on, to be a consultant in retinal medicine and surgery.
Regarding the expatriate experience that Al-Marzouqi went through seven years ago, he said that it was an exceptional experience that refined my personality, made me more mature, and taught me how to rely on myself and trust myself and my abilities.
Regarding the challenges he faced while abroad, he explained that learning the German language in all its details was the real beginning, because it was a barrier preventing effective communication with members of society, including his fellow doctors and patients.

The young citizen, Ahmed Muhammad Al-Marzouqi, said that he spends his spare time reading scientific books in his field of professional specialization, in addition to various cultural books, with the aim of increasing his knowledge.
He added that he loves visiting tourist places in Germany, accompanied by his small family members who accompany him abroad, noting his keenness to meet his fellow Emirati and Gulf scholarship students, especially on national occasions during which they share the expression of their national identity, and contribute to introducing others to the UAE’s heritage, which deserves appreciation. And respect.
