A source close to the Al-Wasl Club Football Company revealed that club officials are about to announce the extension of the contract of the first team football star, Fabio Lima, at a date around next week, after the player entered the last six months of his contract, starting from the beginning of this month.

The source told “Emirates Today” that there is a complete agreement between the club’s management and Fabio Lima to continue the relationship between them with a new contract, after putting in place the last “frictions” regarding its wording, without revealing the duration of the new contract.

Fabio Lima spent about 11 years with Al-Wasl Club, after joining it in the summer of 2014, where he played 284 matches in the league championship, scoring 204 goals, becoming the second all-time top scorer in the competition after Al-Nasr striker Ali Mabkhout, who has 225 goals in his tally.

Fabio Lima had received two offers from two clubs, one from inside the country and the other from outside it, after the player entered the last six months of his contract, which gives him the right to sign for any other club.

Fabio Lima confirmed that he is not concerned about the issue of renewing his contract with Al Wasl Club, expressing his respect for any decision taken by the administration, whether to extend or limit the period he spent with the club.

He said in statements after the last Al-Orouba match in the league, which Al-Wasl won 6-0: “My connection with Al-Wasl and its fans is a strong connection. I lived wonderful years in the club, and memories that days cannot erase. I am indebted to everyone here for the things and successes we achieved together, and I am ready to extend my contract with the club.” The club at any time the officials deem appropriate, and if my presence becomes useless within the club and they decide for me to leave, I will thank everyone.”

He added: “I do not think about any matters related to my future, and every day I am inside Al Wasl I make sure to carry out my duties towards the team and its fans, and other matters that happen inside the club do not occupy my mind at all.”

He pointed out: “We have commitments that are more important than my contract. There is more than one championship that we compete for and we will fight to win it, and even the league championship, which we moved away from by a few points, we will continue to do our best to return to the natural link in the league table.”

He concluded: “The six-way victory over Al-Orouba is something that calls for optimism among all Al-Waslawiyah, and gives the team more doses of confidence and optimism about the future, and we must invest this victory in the best possible way in the upcoming matches.”

Fabio Lima:

. I am ready to extend my contract with the club at any time.

. I’m not thinking about anything about my future.

. The six-way victory over Al-Orouba is a cause for optimism.
