The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has launched a guide for the controls and requirements for permitting the activity of selling goods and providing services by vehicle. It includes the conditions and procedures for issuing a permit to practice the activity, the obligations of the establishment, the requirements for the vehicle designated for practicing the activity, and the requirements for the locations of food trucks within private land, in addition to a number of controls. The Authority stated that the guide aims to develop a road map for customers wishing to practice the activity of selling goods and providing services by vehicle or both, so that the mechanism of practice, the conditions that must be met, and the requirements that must be provided are explained, and it aims in particular to improve the quality of services provided to members of society, by organizing the practice of the activity. Selling goods and providing services by vehicle, in addition to facilitating the journey of the customer wishing to practice the activity, and explaining the requirements and conditions of the concerned authorities necessary to practice the activity of selling goods and providing services by The vehicle.

The Authority stated that the guide applies to establishments licensed by the relevant licensing authority and authorized by the Authority to engage in the activity of selling goods or providing services via vehicles within the territorial scope of the emirate, including areas subject to the authorities of free zones and special development zones, whether this is done by roaming or through The pre-order system is via communication, electronic media, or smart applications. The activity is carried out using vehicles registered, licensed, and equipped for this purpose, according to the technical requirements and controls of the main activity to be provided, including, but not limited to, selling. Accessories and clothing, selling snacks and cold and hot non-alcoholic drinks, selling fish, and providing various services such as washing and ironing clothes, car washing, and other services that can be provided in this way.

According to the guideline, in order to issue a permit, the applicant must have obtained initial approval from the licensing authority in the emirate, and the permit application must be submitted by the facility owner or his legal representative and in accordance with the form prepared by the authority, and no change or modification must be made to the vehicle’s structure. Before obtaining the institution’s prior approval for this.

With regard to the requirements for the location of food trucks on private land, the guide stipulates that one of the uses of the land required to be declared must be commercial, that the designated setback must not be exploited, that no seating or equipment be placed in public corridors and roads, and that at least two parking spaces must be provided for each food truck. If sessions are provided, one parking space will be provided within the private land for every two square meters of the sessions, and the space used within the private land must be adhered to.

The guideline also stipulates that the use of the vehicle should be limited to one commercial license, ensuring that traffic, traffic and pedestrians are not obstructed, and a commitment to providing the service continuously throughout the permit period and within the scheduled operating times, maintaining general cleanliness, providing special waste bins for the vehicle, and using parking lots and public places. approved by the Authority and the competent authorities in the emirate when carrying out the activity. Vehicles are not allowed to roam within the city and in residential areas except to meet the customer’s request. Only equip the vehicle with the necessary lighting to clearly identify its purpose at night and while it is idle, in addition to providing the security and safety requirements determined by the competent authority, and not pasting or hanging any materials. Advertising on the trailer before obtaining the authority’s prior approval for this, and adhering to the times and places of the ban on practicing the activity as imposed by the competent authority.

The Roads and Transport Authority has set four requirements that must be met by drivers: to have a driving license issued by the United Arab Emirates and have had it for a period of no less than a full year, to obtain a criminal status investigation certificate from the Dubai Police General Command, and to pass the examination. Annual medical examination to obtain a professional permit issued by the Roads and Transport Authority Licensing Corporation in accordance with applicable legislation, and commitment to wearing the official uniform that contains the logo and name of the company licensing the activity and maintaining personal hygiene.
