The Minister of Economy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Civil Aviation Authority, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, stressed during the opening speech of the “Future Aviation Week” that the UAE, thanks to the directives of its wise leadership, has paid great attention to enhancing investment in the aviation sector and the continuous development of its infrastructure based on best practices. He said that the aviation sector currently contributes 13.3% to the country’s gross domestic product, and the number of passengers through our airports increased by 12.6% during the first eight months of this year, as the number of travelers through the UAE reached approximately 98 million passengers, compared to 87 million passengers during the period. The same as last year, and it is expected that the total number of passengers through all the country’s airports will reach about 145 million passengers by the end of December 2024.

He added that these positive indicators reflect the growing attractiveness of the UAE as a travel destination and an important transit point for travelers from different parts of the world, while the aviation sector continues to explore possible opportunities to increase the efficiency of fuel used in operational operations, and promote the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and low-carbon sustainable aviation fuel. (LCAF).
He said that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) expects the air transport market in the UAE to grow by 170% over the next twenty years, leading to an increase of 101 million flights by the year 2037, and that this will contribute an amount of 127.7 billion US dollars to the national economy, accompanied by There is an increasing trend towards adopting sustainable practices in the aviation sector, confirming that the aviation sector is an essential pillar in the economic development process in the country.

Emirates Airlines and the Museum of the Future are organizing the “Future Aviation Week” activities, which continue until October 17, with the participation of ministers from the UAE government, senior government officials, industry leaders in the aviation, space and air cargo sectors, and experts in maintenance, repair, refurbishing and logistics services.
