Sharjah Police revealed the circumstances of a murder in which a Bangladeshi woman was killed. They arrested the accused who fled to the Sultanate of Oman and brought him back to the country in coordination with the Interpol office in the Ministry of Interior and in cooperation with the Omani police. The accused confessed to his crime.
The incident began, according to the case file, with a report filed by a Bangladeshi national to the Buhaira Police Station on April 15, when he discovered the body of “Rukhsana. M.” lying on the floor inside her room in a shared residence in an Arab house. The police went to the location of the report, and it turned out that it was an old popular house in the Umm Khanour area, where a group of people reside. They found the victim’s body in one of the rooms, which was divided into three sections from the inside, and was used by three people. The body was lying on its stomach, with a piece of cloth (shayla) around its neck. The initial examination indicated that the perpetrator had strangled her and continued to press on her neck until she died, before fleeing.
The search for the people residing in the house revealed that a number of them were present after the body was discovered, but they fled. Through investigation and research, they were all located and arrested in different areas of Sharjah City. Among them were three men and two women, all of Bangladeshi nationality. During the investigation, they gave conflicting statements, stating that some of them were outside the house at the time the victim was killed, and after they returned and the crime was discovered, some of them preferred to flee to get away from the crime scene. Among them was the person responsible for managing the house and subletting it, who was initially suspected of involvement in the crime. Through continued investigation and research, information was obtained indicating that there was a relationship between the victim and another person named (W.A.M.) of her nationality, who had recently resided in the house and was sharing one of the rooms next to the victim’s room. It was found that he had disappeared after the crime occurred.
Through gathering information, it became clear that the suspect had fled to the Sultanate of Oman, where he was circulated. Through coordination with the Interpol office in the Ministry of Interior and cooperation with the Omani police, he was arrested and returned to the country. The accused confessed during the investigations to his involvement in the murder of the victim, attributing the reason to the victim’s multiple relationships, and that he had advised her several times to stop practicing vice, but she did not listen to his advice, so he strangled her to death with a piece of cloth (shayla) that belonged to the victim. After he committed the crime, he left the room in fear and was seen by the defendant (A.M.), who was responsible for managing the house and advised him to flee the site, and he also fled. Based on the perpetrator’s confessions, he was arrested on charges of premeditated murder, and (A.M.) was arrested on charges of covering up the crime and concealing the perpetrator in preparation for referring them to the Public Prosecution.
