58% of “Hope Makers” initiatives are women

The Hope Makers Initiative, the largest humanitarian initiative of its kind to honor those who give and inspire humanitarian contributions across the Arab world, recorded more than 92,000 participants, the largest of its kind since the launch of the initiative three years ago, and women-led initiatives constituted the largest share of participating nominations. This confirms the influential role of Arab women in making positive change and improving the quality of life of Arab societies, as the volume of women’s participation exceeded 58%, whether through individual or collective initiatives or activities of charitable institutions headed by female leaders.

The hope makers’ contributions from Egypt ranked first in the Arab world in terms of the number of nominations, followed by Saudi Arabia, then Morocco in third place, Palestine fourth, and Lebanon in fifth place.

At the level of foreign countries, the largest number of nominations for the initiative came from Germany, then the United States of America, Sweden, and France.

Relief initiatives and campaigns dedicated to helping the poor and needy and aiming to provide them with a decent life received the largest number of entries, at 41%, followed by educational initiatives, 14%, then health and treatment initiatives, 12%, and women’s empowerment initiatives, 11%.

The Hope Makers who won the title will be crowned in an honorary ceremony, the largest in the initiative’s history, held under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday, February 20, at the Coca-Cola Arena in City Hall. Wok.

The ceremony witnesses honoring the hope makers who have the most influential charitable initiatives, and celebrating the hope industry by presenting poignant and inspiring human stories, the heroes of which are the final candidates in the honoring ceremony, and highlighting their inspiring role in serving noble causes and fanning the flame of hope in their surroundings, amid wide public participation in the ceremony. Which is expected to be attended by more than 12 thousand people.

Project Manager at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, Hamda Al Buqaishi, said that the Hope Makers Initiative is creating great momentum today in charitable and humanitarian work in the Arab world by highlighting positive and luminous Arab models that work to make a qualitative difference in Arab societies through… Individual and collective initiatives are influential and purposeful, and contribute strongly to creating a continuous and sustainable community movement that supports the consolidation of hope and positivity, renewing ambition, resuming the development process, and fighting… Despair, retreat, and frustration in order to achieve a better future for the Arab person.

She continued, “The record number of participants in the third Hope Makers Cycle is the culmination of the continuous increase in the number of nomination applications every year, and an affirmation of the Arab world’s need for such an initiative, which stems from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, that there is no place for despair and that the future is for the youth.” The Arab who is confident in himself and his abilities, who is proud of his identity, history, and homeland, who is open to the world, who takes the initiative and turns challenges into opportunities, and leads the paths of development with determination, persistence, and unknowable ambition. “The impossible.”

Al-Baqishi pointed out that the Arab public and media interest in the initiative encouraged her this year to allocate the proceeds of her closing ceremony to an Arab humanitarian charitable project par excellence, in support of the Arab societies’ aspiration to the future with an eye of hope and a contribution to its creation, stressing that the public’s interaction with the “Hope Makers” was the way to learn about courses of action and models. A new inspiration for volunteering, charitable, humanitarian and social work, and evidence that the initiative is on the right track as a motivating factor for the emergence of new humanitarian projects. And developing existing humanitarian projects throughout the Arab region.

She added: “The initiative’s message goes from the UAE to all parts of the world to celebrate tens of thousands of unsung humanitarian heroes, and to highlight their innovative and creative efforts that instill hope in souls and create distinguished business models that contribute to building a better tomorrow, and serve as a source of inspiration for others.” The message of the Hope Makers is the message of the UAE that hope exists and will continue to exist in the Arab world, and our goal is to encourage and motivate it and expand its horizons towards broader spaces.”

The “Hope Makers” course, affiliated with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, received nominations for more than 92,000 initiatives from 38 Arab and foreign countries, which is the largest in the initiative’s history.

Project of the year

This year, the “Hope Makers” initiative begins a new phase in supporting humanitarian work by adopting a charitable project with a broad impact with an Arab dimension, and highlighting it to enhance its role in charitable work. The initiative chose the project to build Dr. Magdy Yacoub Heart Disease Hospital in Egypt, as a project of the Arab Humanitarian Year, and the proceeds from the Hope Makers Coronation Ceremony will be allocated to support it.

The new hospital will be one of the largest treatment institutions of its kind in the Arab world, with a qualified medical staff, and state-of-the-art medical and surgical equipment and equipment in the world. The hospital will provide its services to treat heart patients from all over the Arab world free of charge.

Evaluation mechanism

Nomination applications are subject to a series of evaluations and qualifiers, during which all applications are sorted by voluntary subcommittees that include an elite group of Emirati sons and daughters concerned with encouraging charitable work. The best 20 initiatives are then selected from among the tens of thousands of applications that have been submitted. The main judging committee for the initiative works to It includes qualitative expertise and competencies to study the results and select the five final candidates, to participate in the honoring ceremony and tell their inspiring stories and experiences in the presence of thousands of people interested in creating hope from all over the Arab world.

Final candidates are selected based on specific criteria, including the extent of the impact their initiatives have had and their ability to effectively reach the target segments.
